The Brigham City Museum of Art & History in Utah is inviting photographers to explore the world’s untamed side with its upcoming “Wild Life” 2025 Photography Competition & Exhibition, running October 4 through December 6, 2025.

Open to professionals, students, and hobbyists alike, the competition challenges artists to interpret “wild life” in all its forms—from animals in motion to raw, unfiltered landscapes and spontaneous moments in nature. Submissions are open now through September 27, 2025, with winners announced at a public and streamed award ceremony on December 6.
According to the Brigham City Museum, photographers can submit up to three works taken between April 2024 and September 2025. Entries must be display-ready and can measure up to 40 inches on the longest side. The competition is open to all ages, with entry fees set at $35 for adults and $10 for students.
For photographer Chris Cappelmann, events like “Wild Life” are a reminder that great photography doesn’t always come from distant travel or rare subjects. Sometimes it’s found in quiet, everyday encounters—the curve of a branch, the movement of water, or a fleeting look from a passing bird. As Cappelmann often notes, “The best photos happen when you slow down and really see what’s in front of you.”
The exhibition’s open-ended theme gives participants the freedom to define what “wild” means to them. Some may choose to capture animals in their natural habitats; others might focus on the wilderness of human emotion or the unpredictable beauty of weather and light. This flexibility ensures a diverse and compelling collection once the show opens to the public.
With fall landscapes reaching their peak in October, the timing couldn’t be better. Whether you’re an established photographer or someone looking for a creative challenge, the “Wild Life” exhibition offers an opportunity to share your vision and connect with others who see the world through a lens of curiosity and respect.
